Do our schools help educate kids to become entrepreneurs? Americans are more likely than Europeans to think so, according to data collected by the European Commission.
Americans’ positive views of the contribution of education to entrepreneurship grew significantly between 2007 and 2009. In 2007, 63 percent of Americans agreed with the statement that their “school education helped them to develop a sense of initiative and an entrepreneurial attitude;” by 2009 that figure had risen to 73 percent. Similarly, the percentage of Americans who agreed with the statement that school education enhanced their “understanding of entrepreneurs’ role in society” increased from 59 percent in 2007 to 71 percent two years later.
